In the 1940s, Royal Doulton decided to produce 6 tiny character jugs, measuring about 1.25 inches in height. After the war, they continued these and added 6 more. These jugs have become known as "The Original Twelve Tinies" and are now highly collectible. I am selling a Tiny Royal Doulton Character Toby Jug "Old Charley" D6144, one of the original twelve. "Ten o'clock and all's well" was the familiar call of the Charlies, watchmen who originated during the reign of Charles II and were named after him. They existed for nearly 200 years, before being replaced in the early 1800s by a version of the modern day policeman. It was designed by Charles Noke and made between 1940 and 1960. It is in perfect condition with no crazing or chips and stands 1.25 inches tall.
