Here we have a brand New Jaunty JT-C Carbon Framed Folding Bike
Last Year I started to look into the Folding bike market and was amazed to see that whilst full size bikes are easily coming in at 7.5-8kgs, folding bikes all seem to be happy weighing in at 13kgs+?? How does this even make sense? If we are to carry a bike onto the bus/train then surely one of the main, if not the very most important thing is that it should do is be light?
So I have spent the best part of this year searching, finding and eventually talking with a Chinese company who are just starting to get into producing an exciting new product called the Jaunty JT-C.
This is the first bike of it’s kind in the world, it has 16 international patents and loads of innovative new designs that make it a real eye catcher.
This is the first bike that has been exported to the UK and is the only folding bike on the market that incorporates a Carbon folding frame.. The folding mechanism is the simplest on the market and only takes 10 seconds to fold and very neatly locks into folded position using a strong magnet on the wheels, leaving the folded bike only 10” wide including the pedals that also neatly fold down.
The bike uses a belt drive single speed gearing so there is no dirty oil to get on your suit whilst carrying/riding the bike.
It is insanely light at 7.15kgs without pedals and only 7.6kgs with pedals. The lightest Brompton that is currently on the market is a Brompton S Type S2LX which will set you back a whopping £1240 and weighs in a 9.8kg! There is just no comparison.
The bike has built in mudguards which compact perfectly when folded plus another very neat design feature is that both the front and back wheel are fully open from one side so if ever you get an annoying puncture (which we will all get at some point) there is no need to remove the wheel, simply take out the inner tube and put the new one straight in with no extra disassembly required.
I can’t stress enough how neat this bike is and not to mention it is one of a kind in the UK so you will never see the same riding by you. Forget a Brompton which is twice the price and twice the weight, be original and laugh at the others wincing trying to carry their bike on the tube whilst you stride along with only 7 kgs in your hand.
For sizing I am 5ft 11” and to be honest, I find the bike a little small. I would suggest 5ft 9” max on this model, I am in talks with the Chinese manufacturers trying to discuss a large 20” wheel bike but I suppose that will need to wait.
The bike has 16” wheels with disc brakes front and back which have loads of stopping power. It is a single speed so if you have a hilly trek to work perhaps its not for you but if you have a 2-4mile commute through flat streets and are sick of taking forever walking then this bike is perfect, then it just folds up neatly and fits under you desk.
I know there is a big folding bike following on Canal boats too which to be honest this bike would be hard to beat. It fold much smaller than all other models, measuring only 75cm x 60cm x 20cm and weighing only 7.6kgs, it is simply head and shoulders above all other folders.
Any Viewings/Test rides are very welcome, come and take a look to see why I am so impressed with the bike, no pressure.
I am willing to post the bike, which I have already done a with full size bikes a few times with no problems.
All parts will be meticulously wrapped in bubble wrap and I will include the manual and tools provided and original packaging from China.
I have sent three bikes through Paisley Freight and each have arrived unharmed.
Cost will be £50 with full insurance.
