Au Pair wanted to start August (6 months minimum)
Description
My husband Nik and I are looking for an experienced Au Pair to join our family end of July / beginning of August to help look after our three year old son Oskar.
Sadly, after a year and a half our current au pair is moving on. However she will happily reference and hopefully be available for a handover period. We are looking for someone stay for a minimum of 6 months to maintain consistency.
We live with our gorgeous little boy in a lovely town called Epsom, 30 minutes from Central London. It has a good au pair community and there is lots to do. We are a positive, happy family and are looking for someone to come and help us look after the little man.
Oskar is an adorable, happy, cheeky little boy, who is incredibly good natured and lots of fun to be around. He is very inquisitive and always looking for the next thing to do.
My husband and I both work in central London, myself in Theatre managing the marketing for many of the big West End shows and my husband Nik owns a Film company, he has an office in central London, but also works from a home office too. We are a vibrant fun family who love the arts, fitness, entertaining and social occasions. We are quite a multicultural family too, my husband is Swedish, I am English and a lot of our family live in France. So we are looking forward to either enhancing these cultures or bringing a new one into our household.
We have two cats Max and Dex who are very much part of our family, very loving and live in the house but spend a lot of time outside.
We live in Epsom in Surrey, it is still within the M25 in Greater London, a 30 minute train journey or drive to the centre of the city. The house is 3 levels high, your room is on the second floor where the lounge, Oskar’s room and a bathroom is. Your room is large, en suite and contains a double bed, wardrobes, TV with a sofa area, desk and chair, with access to Wi-fi internet. The household is a non-smoking household, so we would only accept non smokers.
Location-wise our house is sandwiched between Epsom Common and Horton Park, two beautiful green lands where the polo club, golf club and Gym complex are located. It is a 20 minute walk or 5 minute bus / car ride from the centre of Epsom. There are buses which go from directly outside our place frequently, however not late at night. Epsom is a thriving town with lots of shops, bars, restaurants, cinemas, language schools and things to do. It’s also close to other nearby Surrey towns which are equally as busy. From what our previous au pair tells me there are a whole host of Au Pairs who live in the area and meet up frequently in Epsom town centre.
You would only be required to work four days a week to cover when I am working in London. This would be Tuesday – Friday from 7.30am until 7pm, essentially this would give you Saturday – Monday ‘off’. Oskar starts nursery in September and will be in on Tues- Fri mornings so you will only have to drop him at nursery and collect him giving you mornings off too. However we would ask for two evenings a week for you to remain in the house and babysit, one of them would be midweek and one would be over the weekend however we would give you prior warning so you can plan your own weekends.
During your work day you would drop Oskar at nursery and collect him at lunchtime. Your duties would be primarily to look after Oskar, to entertain him, play with him and perhaps teach your language. During these hours you would be responsible for him, so would cook for him and feed him etc. Depending on the day you might also be expected to bathe him and put him to bed following a night-time routine.
We have a cleaner for the whole house, though you would be expected to keep your own bedroom and ensuite clean. We would also ask you help with the household chores such as empty the dishwasher on your working days and we would ask you to manage the clothes washing, no ironing though. We would generally do our own cooking, however on the odd occasion it would be great if you could assist or possibly introduce us to some of your native dishes.
In addition to the accommodation and facilities we would provide, we would also give you pocket money of £85 per week. We want you to enjoy your time with us as much as possible so will help you to settle in and experience London and Surrey and if you like musicals and plays there are always tickets available to go and see the latest thing.
We are really looking for someone who has a happy, positive approach, is organised and would fit in well with our family. We are very sociable and although we wouldn’t expect you to hang out with us it would be nice if you could join in with the odd family barbeque and meal.
