Description
A once loved and well sailed Albacore dinghy and road trailer have been neglected and left unattended for a number of years at the Sailing Club and now have to find a new home and owner.
Although this is a great opportunity to own a classic racing dinghy please make no mistake that there is some work to be done here and it will be a labour of love to bring her back to life but an amazing reward for the owner with the staying power to achieve it.
She has been left uncovered for a long time and you can see from the images that there are a number of damaged areas that will need time and patience to restore. We understand that the last winter storm caused the boat to lift and drop back onto its road trolley and one of the supports punctured the hull (shown in the pictures).
Her standing Rigging, Mast, Boom and Spreaders are still in place together with a number of other tracks and fittings attached to the hull. There is also a centreboard in the centreboard housing, but it's condition is unknown. There are no sails, rudder or tiller with the dinghy. She is currently on her road trailer and this is part of the sale and will need some work.
If you've had the patience to read this far and instead of walking away you've started to work through plans in your own head about clearing some space where you could work on her and what you think she needs doing (and more importantly how you're going to convince your partner!) then you're already the person for the job, so why not come and see her - She's in the Dinghy Park of the East Lancashire Sailing Club, Rishton, Lancashire and if you send us an email or call we can arrange a day and time to meet up.
The club would really like to think that the dinghy is going to someone who can bring her back up to a good sailing condition and we would be more than happy to see her and her new owner sailing in the future, perhaps racing against the other Albacores at the club. This is why the club is only asking for a donation of 50 pounds for the dinghy and trailer.
To help a prospective owner decide if that's good value or not just check out how much an Albacore Mast and Boom is worth alone.
If you'd like to come and see her for yourself, and this is highly recommended, please contact Michael using the email or telephone shown on this page
Thanks very much for your interest.
